Restaurant Planwirtschaft – A Culinary Journey Back to East Germany
Fancy a taste of history? Welcome to Planwirtschaft! Located in the heart of Dresden's vibrant Neustadt district, our restaurant invites you on a charming culinary journey into the world of former East Germany – a real highlight for visitors and anyone keen to discover a different side of Dresden.
Classic East German Cuisine – Hearty, Honest and Iconic
Our kitchen serves the classic dishes of East German cuisine, prepared authentically and with great attention to detail. Look forward to genuine favourites such as hearty solyanka with lemon and sour cream, the iconic Würzfleisch (a creamy baked poultry ragout topped with cheese), traditional chicken fricassee or our Original GDR Jägerschnitzel – breaded slices of bologna sausage served with spiral pasta and a fruity tomato sauce, a true East German classic. The menu also features herring fillets in a traditional creamy sauce, hearty beef roulades and sweet plinsen (East German-style pancakes), just like Grandma used to make.
Step into East German Nostalgia
Dining at Planwirtschaft is about more than just great food. The restaurant is lovingly decorated with original memorabilia, everyday objects and iconic items from the GDR era. Every corner tells its own story, creating a unique and cosy atmosphere of East German nostalgia that you'll remember long after your visit.
A Hidden Green Oasis: Our Beer Garden
Hidden behind the restaurant is one of our best-kept secrets: a cosy, leafy courtyard beer garden. Away from the bustle of the Neustadt, it's the perfect place to relax with a refreshing Plane Pils, a glass of wine or a traditional Fassbrause soft drink, enjoy good food and make the most of the warmer months surrounded by greenery.
